Signs It's Time for an AC Replacement

Most air conditioners last 10–15 years in Florida's demanding climate. When you need a new AC for your home, always arrange for air conditioning installation with experienced professionals — and watch for these signs that replacement beats another repair:

Your system is 10–15+ years old

and losing cooling power, especially with an aging central air conditioner.

Energy bills keep rising

even though your usage hasn't changed — an energy-efficient heat pump or new AC can pay for itself in savings.

Frequent repairs keep cropping up

when a repair costs half of a new system, replacement is the smarter investment.

Your home has no ductwork or failing ducts

a ductless mini split may be the ideal replacement. Pair any new system with a Wi-Fi/smart thermostat for the finest climate control.

We're here to help!

What Your Neighbors Are Saying

Real reviews from homeowners across Bradenton, Manatee County & Sarasota.

I had my semiannual A/C checkup. Unit was fine. When I mention to Rocky, I developed a plumping issue with my line this morning, he said McDonalds also have plumbing technicians. He called the office and within an hour, Joe and Tristen came from another job to check out my water issue. Within an hour, they diagnostic and repaired my water line and turned the water back on, so I didn’t have to call city utilities. Joe, Tristen, and Rocky, you are rock stars and after 11 years doing business with your company, the work and the quality of your employees keeps getting better. I couldn’t ask for better service, and neither can you. THANKS!

Very happy with the service and promptness. My a/c unit failed and this company was able to install a new unit the same day. Darryl, who arrived on time, gave me a complete overview of the process and demonstrated his knowledge and experience. I highly recommend Jim McDonald and Sons.

My drip pan was full of water and Jim McDonald & Sons had a technician come out same day to take a look. Josh, the technician, was very knowledgeable and transparent. He was able to get my A/C unit up the following day after a lengthy repair job and I couldn’t be happier with the customer service and quality of work. I cancelled my maintenance contract with a larger company and will only be using JM&Sons for maintenance. Thanks again to Josh!

Micah from McDonalds Home Services did a great job fixing my A/C system. He was thorough and friendly. I’m definitely booking them for regular maintenance, rather than waiting until system fails.

Response to a weekend service call today was completed quickly and efficiently. The humidity.overwhelmed the system and shut it down to protect it. Josh arrived, diagnosed and attended to the problem immediately. This is a great company and I’m very pleased that I chose them to replace my unit after hurricane Milton. Now, 9 months after installation, their service has confirmed their reputation as responsive, dedicated and professional.

I was preparing to leave for a vacation when I noticed my hot water heater leaking. My neighbor recommended your company and placed the phone call. I was able to have my water heater replaced the same day with a very courteous and experienced crew. They left everything very clean even the driveway. I am very pleased and would highly recommend your company.

My washer died but I couldn't remove it because the cold water valve had been corroded open, so, it was time to change out both valves, hot and cold. Their man came out, replaced them both with new quarter-turn lever valves instead of the old type, and he DIDN'T SPILL A DROP of water!

Excellent Service. Tech was on time with same day service. Was able to find, fix and get my A/C unit up and running after so many other companies wouldn't even send a tech out.

Tucker provided expert service to our A/C unit. It is an older unit and he diagnosed the issue to get it running. He had the needed part on his truck. He had our a/c system running in short order. Jim McDonald is a very reliable firm! Josh did a great job, a true Professional!

We couldn’t be happier with Bob, Darrell and Leon… Our elderly, single neighbor was being taken advantage of by an A/C Co (scouting the neighborhood). She asked us to review the documents for a new A/C Unit she was talked into buying. I immediately Called Bob Bermudez and asked him to send out an evaluator to give an “Honest” evaluation of what she needed. They were Fantastic and really provided a fair price for this retired teacher on a fixed income. They saved her over $5,000 (Product and interest) and installed the unit (next day) today. They did the same for my sister-in-law who by chance was being railroaded at the same time. I asked Darrell to visit them and he did the same for them and there’s was also installed today.Great job JIM MCDONALD & SONS… YOU’RE THE BEST!!!05/12/23. Well they did such a great job with my friends and family that we decided to install a new unit as well as preemptive maintenance on our 9 year old system. We are sooo very happy we did. Thank you Bob and all the folks at Jim MacDonald
