Central AC Maintenance in Bradenton & Sarasota, FL

Central AC maintenance is the most common type of maintenance homeowners sign up for. Central air conditioners are large investments, and the longer yours runs smoothly, the better off your budget will be. Our AC tune-up appointments include cleaning coils, checking operating pressures, assessing safety controls, and even cleaning air filters. Our maintenance program is all-encompassing, letting us take complete care of your system.

Also keep in mind: every year you skip central AC maintenance, you potentially reduce your system's efficiency by 5%. That compounds year after year until your system is running up your energy bill every month — a costly problem during long Florida cooling seasons. Stop it from happening by calling us today.

We're here to help!

I had my semiannual A/C checkup. Unit was fine. When I mention to Rocky, I developed a plumping issue with my line this morning, he said McDonalds also have plumbing technicians. He called the office and within an hour, Joe and Tristen came from another job to check out my water issue. Within an hour, they diagnostic and repaired my water line and turned the water back on, so I didn’t have to call city utilities. Joe, Tristen, and Rocky, you are rock stars and after 11 years doing business with your company, the work and the quality of your employees keeps getting better. I couldn’t ask for better service, and neither can you. THANKS!

Previously I gave Jim McDonald Air 5 stars; they installed 4 HVAC systems and new ductwork in two houses for me over a one year period. However, in both homes, inspections failed so, more work was needed. Also, I had an appt last Friday but no one showed or called/ texted, which was doubly frustrating as I cancelled another appointment to wait for them all afternoon. When they finally showed for a rescheduled appt only the guys to address the failed inspection came. The guys for the regular maintenance were never dispatched. All in all, the guys who do the work are always polite, seem to be technically good but the fact that the scheduling always gets screwed up really impacts me.

LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!! ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!We have spent a year dealing with this company and can’t begin to describe their incompetence and immorality. Our saga began a year ago with a full system install (2 Daikin Fit units + ductwork). The units have not worked correctly the entire time we have owned them. We have had at least 20-30 service calls without any relief. We are continually several degrees off from the set temperature with humidity of 70% and above. The workmanship provided by this company is shockingly substandard (see photo album). When running a lineset, they took a sledgehammer unnecessarily to my flower bed, destroying it. The course of the lineset was above ground for several feet at both ends which looked laughably unsightly. When asked to come fix it, their tech took rocks from my drainage culvert and scrap pavers from my garage and piled it up over the lineset (see photo album). The lineset cover was applied crooked and any gaps were filled with spray foam.We have recently had 2 independent inspections done of the units from reputable local companies. Both concluded that the ductwork is undersized and the upstairs unit is critically overfilled with coolant. Due to the insufficient air supply, my units will never function appropriately as designed.Unfortunately, due to prolonged exposure to dangerously high humidity from underperforming units and inappropriately sealed ductwork penetrations, my home now suffers from multiple areas of mold growth which are affecting my family’s health and well-being (see photos).Bob’s offer to remedy my situation was to switch out my units at an additional cost of $9500 to ME!! He will look you in the face and tell you that everything is working as intended despite having never seen your home/system. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. We are unfortunately proceeding with litigation against this company. There are far better A/C companies to do business with in Sarasota (check out AAP air or AC Today which are amazing). We regret the day we ever called Jim McDonald and sons. BEWARE!!!!

My drip pan was full of water and Jim McDonald & Sons had a technician come out same day to take a look. Josh, the technician, was very knowledgeable and transparent. He was able to get my A/C unit up the following day after a lengthy repair job and I couldn’t be happier with the customer service and quality of work. I cancelled my maintenance contract with a larger company and will only be using JM&Sons for maintenance. Thanks again to Josh!

Ductless AC Maintenance

Ductless AC maintenance is another vital service we offer across Bradenton and Sarasota. For your ductless heat pump to remain efficient and effective, it needs maintenance twice a year — because it functions as both a heater and an air conditioner, it works twice as hard. Ductless heat pumps are by default some of the most efficient comfort systems on the market. Without proper preventative maintenance, however, they sink into disrepair: frequent, costly fixes and rising energy bills as the system gets dirty and dysfunctional. We'll stop that from happening!

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I schedule air conditioning maintenance in Sarasota, FL?

What is included in a professional AC maintenance service?

Professional AC maintenance typically includes cleaning condenser and evaporator coils, inspecting electrical components, checking refrigerant operating pressures, examining safety controls, and cleaning or replacing air filters as needed. McDonald Home Services provides preventive maintenance for central air conditioners, ductless systems, and heat pumps to help keep equipment operating efficiently.

Decreased comfort levels and lukewarm air.
Higher energy bills.
Frequent repair needs keep cropping up.

Is professional AC maintenance necessary if my air conditioner is working fine?

Yes. An air conditioner can appear to work normally while developing dirty coils, restricted airflow, or worn components. Preventive AC maintenance helps identify these issues before they cause breakdowns or reduce cooling efficiency. Regular service is particularly valuable in Sarasota's hot, humid climate, where air conditioners operate frequently throughout the year.
